Mr. David P. Thomas, age 83 of Potsdam, passed away on Tuesday, September 18th at his residence in the town of Potsdam. Funeral services for David will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Service with Elder Kenneth Ashley. Burial will follow the service at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his sons, Douglas Thomas of Lakeview, OR, Allen Thomas of Ogdensburg, Gregory Thomas of Clarksville, TN, Peter Thomas of Dumfries, VA and David C. Thomas of Potsdam; a daughter, Rebecca Cole of Potsdam; brothers John and Butch Thomas; a sister, Ruth Duprey; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion Thomas; sisters Diane Weems and Eileen Houghton; and a brother, Kenny Thomas.
Mr. David P. Thomas was born on August 20, 1929 in Canton, to Park Thomas and Freida Selleck. He attended Canton Schools. He served in the United States Army for four years.
Upon his honorable discharge he returned home and was married to Marion L. Ladison on June 26, 1954 in Crary Mills. David worked construction in the area for many years. He was an avid gardener and loved taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and filming wildlife on his camcorder.
