Mr. and Mrs. James Richards, Newton Road, Potsdam, observed their 50th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2012.
The celebrated the event with a party of family and friends at the QWL building in Ogdensburg.
James, the son of the late Edison and Pearl Ricahrds; and Sheila, daughter of the late Harry and Melba Bullock, were married on July 28, 1962, at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam with Father Francis P. Devan officiating. Attendants were the late Elmer Richards and his wife, Betty Richards, Norfolk. A reception was held for them at the Bullock family residence on the Plum Brook Road in Norfolk.
Together they owned and operated a dairy farm on the Newton Road for many years. James also worked for Pellegrino in Massena, Knapp & Trau Equipment, Fairport and AEON Heating and Air Conditioning, retiring in 2008.
Sheila is a homemaker and has worked outside the home doing house cleaning, and at Clarkson, Russell’s Convenience Store in Parishville, and Ames Dept. Store, until it closed in 2002.
They have two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kay Richards, Lisbon, and Wayne and Jo, Hopkinton. They also have seven grandchildren, Ashely, Jamie, Heather, Arielle and Eric Richards of Lisbon; also Justin Richards of Queensbury, and Jared Richards, U.S. Navy. James and Sheila have two great-grandchildren, Keagean and Haylie.
