Really? Seriously? The county is having problems funding a new training building. Well, the Canton School District has an interesting budget. This is a quote from the Watertown Times, “The preliminary $24.7 million spending plan for the 2012-13 school year is a hike from this year’s $23.66 million budget. With roughly 72 percent of the district’s budget going to employee salaries and benefits, most of the increase is related to health insurance benefits, retiree pensions and salary hikes.” Seems to me the school district is more interested in the personal gain of the employees than producing quality students. Maybe they can donate some of the personal gain to the fire building. Each year I have to pay thousands in property tax to this school district and I thought we had a really great school program until I just learned that we are just funding the retirement and pockets of the employees. With this type of budget and the loss of employees I think we need to take a look at the district management.
