POTSDAM -- Village police say they have found the graffiti vandal they have been looking for, and it is the same man they arrested twice early Wednesday morning in two other incidents.
Lance C. Harbart, 26, was arrested today on charges of making graffiti and third-degree criminal mischief.
Those charges are on top of charges laid against him early Wednesday for allegedly tossing a computer printer into Market Street and obstructing traffic, and less than an hour later, for allegedly hitting a woman in the face, causing minor injury.
Police say sometime in that same time frame -- late Tuesday or early Wednesday -- someone spray-painted walls at the Prosh building parking lot off of Elm Street, at the Key Bank and around the post office on Elm, and at the downtown Barstow building.
The most recent charges are the result of an investigation that turned up "graffiti instruments from his apartment including a can of black spray paint," police said, after Harbart made a statement to them.
Police had issued a request for information about the spray-painter yesterday.
Harbart was issued appearance tickets on today's charges returnable in village court Aug. 4.
Police say they are still looking into the extent of the damage, and that more charges against Harbart, including possible counts in the case of each property owner/victim, could be made.
Any property owners with graffiti similar to that at the sites mentioned above are asked to call the Potsdam Police Department at 265-2121.
