OGDENSBURG – William L. Spriggs, 53, of 310 Main Street, Ogdensburg died unexpectedly at his home early Saturday morning, June 12, 2010.
He had been in failing health.
Graveside services will be held at Ogdensburg Cemetery in July at a date and time to be announced.
Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
Among the survivors are: 2 sons, William "Billy" Spriggs, Jr., Jamestown, N.Y., Ryan Spriggs, Ashville, N.Y.; a daughter, Andrea Spriggs, Hubbard, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Dale (Gizelle) Wells, Ogdensburg; a brother, Charles Spriggs and his wife, Kelly of Ogdensburg; nine nieces and nephews survive.
Predeceasing him were his parents, Charles and Shirley Spriggs, and a brother, Jeffrey.
He was born in Ogdensburg on April 17, 1957, the son of Charles E. and Shirley Piercey Spriggs.
He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy.
After high school he entered an apprenticeship program with Carpenters' Union Local #747 of Massena and worked subsequently, as a carpenter on various construction jobs throughout the northern area.
He had been on disability for the past 10 years.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening in his leisure time, and enjoyed his weekly card games with his mom and friends.
