James H. Miller Jr., 80, of Ogdensburg, died at St. Joseph’s Home, June 15, 2010. A funeral mass will be, June 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at Notre Dame Church, Reverend Father James Shurtleff officiating. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mary “Ruth” LaRue Miller; sons James Miller, Pulaski, Ronald and Cynthia Miller, Syracuse, Michael and Shirley Miller, and John Miller and companion Wendy McNally, Ogdensburg; daughter, Karen and Steve Bell, Fulton; brother George and Melanie Miller, Green; sister, Judy Poirier, Ogdensburg; and 11 grandchildren, one great grand-child, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert.
He was born January 18, 1930, the child of James H. and Philomina Remie Miller Sr., in Ogdensburg. He married Barbara Jane Cadieux, December 29, 1951, at the Grey Nun’s Chapel, she died January 1, 1996, and then he married Mary Ruth Ann LaRue,February 14, 1998 at Notre Dame Church, Father Hunt officiating. He worked for the City of Ogdensburg in maintenance at the marina and recreation building till he retired in 1997. Previous to that he worked for Diamond National, as a millwright for 28 years, for Tom Duffy as a subcontractor doing finishing work, and he repaired boats at Alexandria Bay Boat Works.
He was a member of AMVETS Post 19 and Notre DameChurch. He enjoyed woodworking (making furniture), fishing, and boat building.
