POTSDAM -- Fifteen members of the SUNY Potsdam softball team participated in the Adopt-A-Bear program at Lawrence Avenue Elementary School recently.
The Bears, who have made this a reoccurring event, took time again after volunteering this past spring.
As part of their community outreach, the girls play games, have relay races, play basketball, take part in arts and crafts such as coloring, teach and talk with elementary school-aged children.
"It's good for our girls to get out and work with the kids," said ninth-year SUNY Potsdam softball coach Shannon Dillabough. "They can get a chance to see kids from different backgrounds. And it's a good team bonding experience to do something besides just playing softball."
The team will be looking to do it again just before their softball season starts in the spring.
