OGDENSBURG -- Funeral services for Winifred L. Spaman, age 90, will be held on Thursday, December 28, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church. Interment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park following funeral services. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 27, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Mrs. Spaman passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, at Riverledge Nursing Home.
Winifred is survived by two daughters, Terry Cougler of Heuvelton, and Deborah Bixby of Ogdensburg; and four grandchildren; Christopher Cougler, Tara Kroeger and her husband, James, Alyson Bixby, and Andrew Bixby II and his wife, Coleen; and five great grandchildren; Gabrielle, Natalie, and Lily Kroeger, Gina Kelley and Bennett Bixby.
Winifred is predeceased by a son-in-law, Robert Cougler, a son-in-law, Andrew Bixby and a sister, Beverly Graveline.
Winifred was born on April 1, 1927, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Frank and and Mabel McCollum Graveline. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1946.
Winifred married Chester E. Spaman at Notre Dame Church on July 17, 1948, with Monsignor A.D. Charbonneau officiating. They were happily married for sixty-six years. Chester predeceased her on September 4, 2014.
Winifred first went to work at A&P Grocery Store and later retired from St. Joseph’s Home in the Housekeeping Department.
Winifred enjoyed skating, going to the casino and shopping. Most of all, Winifred loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
