William "Whitey" Truax, 73, of Haines City, Fla., formerly of Litchfield, Conn., died June 21, 2010. He was born May 7, 1937, in Rossie, the son of Milton and Helen (Simons) Truax.
He married Jean Rabideau Feb. 2, 1957, at St. Mary's Church in Massena.
He was a project superintendent at L.G. Defelice for 40 years. The past few years he worked part time for Arborio Corp., Cromwell, Conn.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean; sons, Craig and wife Teresa Truax of Bantam, Conn., and Kevin Truax of Haines City, Fla.; his grandchildren, Scott Truax of Pittsfield, Maine, Ashley and husband David Goletz of Torrington, Conn., and Alicia Truax of Bantam, Conn.; one great-grandchild, Jackson Craig Goletz; brothers, James and Ruth Truax of Massena, Donald Truax of Fort Myers, Fla., Bruce and Gini of Massena, and Lincoln and Marilyn Truax of Massena; sisters, Katherine and Gwyn Knight of Tonawanda, Grace Godreau of Holwell, N.J., Betty and Duane Pelky of Norfolk; sisters-in-law, Shirley Matton and Beverly Peryer of Plattsburgh, and Pauline Rabideau of Altona; several nieces and nephews with one very special niece, Diana DuBray and husband Roger of Plattsburgh, who were always there during his long illness.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Robert Truax; in-laws, John and Beatrice Rabideau; and brothers-in-law, James Pichette, Maurice Godreau, Carlton Rabideau, Robert Peryer and Darrell Matton.
A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 45 State Highway 37 C, Massena, at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12. A private burial will be held at Holy Angels Church, Altona.
