William (Ward) Bushaw, 87, formerly of Carthage

William (Ward) Bushaw 87 of Foley, Alabama formerly of Carthage passed away suddenly on December 27, 2012.

Ward was born on April 14, 1925 in Canton, the son of Edward and Marguerite (Ward) Bushaw. He graduated from Madrid High School and on June 24, 1950 he married Joan Murphy at St. John’s The Baptist Church in Madrid. Mrs. Bushaw predeceased him on January 14, 2011 after 60 years of marriage.

From 1950 to 1964 Ward worked for the A&P super market as a meat cutter in Potsdam, New York. In 1964 the family moved to Carthage and he was a meat cutter for the Carthage A&P. He then became part owner and meat manager of Carthage Super Duper and The Jubilee Food Store.

Ward was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Robertsdale, Alabama, where he was a local member of the Knights of Columbus and had been in the Knights for 52 years.

Ward is survived by his daughter, Leanna and her husband Mel Trombley, Harrisville; his son, Edward and his wife Kristy Bushaw of Foley, Alabama; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his five sisters, Helen Cline, Jean Dodd, Irene Kirby, Betty Haney and Barbara Carkner.

A funeral mass and celebration of life will be Friday Jan. 18, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Robertsdale, Alabama. Arrangements are with the Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale, Alabama.
