William E. Mashaw, 66, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at his home under the care of his family.
Calling hours will be Thursday, January 30th from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur. There will be no funeral service.
William was born March 7, 1947 in Rome, the son of Donald and Mildred Morgan Mashaw. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1965 and served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969. He was employed at St. Joe Mineral Company for 17 years and then worked out of Local Laborer's Union #322. William also was employed as a custodian at Gouverneur Savings & Loan, had served the Town of Gouverneur as a town justice, and was currently serving as a town councilman.
William enjoyed fishing, playing softball, woodworking, collecting knives, and was a New York Yankee fan.
William is survived by his wife, Trudy; two daughters, Kelly and Dennis Forsyth of Fowler and Kerry and Henry Price of Watertown; five grandchildren, Stephen, Staci, Jada, Hanna, and Madison; three great grandchildren, Toni, Kori-Anne, and William. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert and Kitty Mashaw of Gouverneur and John and Brenda Mashaw of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Diann Mashaw of Watertown and Sandy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Donald "Herky" Mashaw and Gary Mashaw.
