Mrs. Virginia Rose LaBrake, age 91, of Potsdam, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, where she had been a patient for the past year. There will be a graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam on Tuesday, September 17th at 10 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Robert Aucoin celebrant. There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Virginia is survived by her two sons, John (Belinda) LaBrake of Brooksville, FL and Thomas LaBrake of Potsdam; nine grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward LaBrake; daughter Bonnie LaPoint; daughter in law Phyllis LaBrake; brother Guy Daniels; and sisters Margaret LaBrake, Anna Mae Connors and Doris Yette.
Virginia Rose LaBrake was born on August 3, 1922 in Potsdam, to the late Edward and Dora Heaton Daniels. She was a 1939 graduate of Potsdam Central School. On December 22, 1940 at the Methodist Church in Potsdam, she was married to Edward T. LaBrake. She waitressed at many restaurants in Potsdam and she then worked at Nekoosa Edwards Paper Mill for many years until her retirement.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, roller skating, playing cards and was a big Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
