Virginia I. Wilkins, 84, died Friday afternoon May 11, 2012. She is survived by her daughters Peg O’Shea of Massena, Connie and husband Steve Dona of Franklin MA, Mary Dunham of Chandler AZ, and son Jack; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Her husband Leonard predeceased her on April 9, 2012. She is also survived by her one brother, Joseph D’Arienzo of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Mary Romeo of Rochester, NY, and Sylvia Whitton of Massena.

Virginia was born December 8, 1927 in Massena to Immaculata and John D’Arienzo. She was one of 13 children. Virginia married Leonard Wilkins on August 27, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. Earl Nichols presiding. Virginia was a co-owner of Alkie’s Liquor store and a classroom volunteer at Trinity Catholic School.

A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held Tuesday May 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. J. Michael Gaffney presiding. At the Family’s request donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 U.S. Highway 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.
