
Violetta C. “Letty” (Cox) Hamel, 84, of Littleton, MA, formerly of Star Lake, died Saturday, July 14, at Concord Health Care Center in Concord, MA.
She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth A. Hamel. They were married on March 11, 1951 in Utica.
Born in Monkton Ridge, Vermont, on May 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Evah (Shepard) Cox. She attended Monkton Ridge public schools and graduated from Monkton Ridge High School in 1946.
For seven years, prior to her retirement in 2008, Mrs. Hamel worked at the Stop and Shop in Acton, MA. Previously she worked at Woolworth’s Department Store in Watertown as a waitress at Babcock’s Diner in Oswegatchi, and as a Clerk at Paget’s IGA in Star Lake.
A resident of Littleton, Massachusetts, since 2000, she previously lived in Newton Falls, and Star Lake.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Weiss and her husband Jim of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Sandra Hamel of Littleton, Massachusetts; one son, Kenneth Hamel and his wife Teresa of Gulfport, Florida; three grandsons, Justin and Patrick Hanley and Tyler Hamel; two great-grandchildren, Neala Hanley and Jonathon Hanley; two sisters, Monica Eseltine of North Carolina, and Patricia Sweeney of California.
She was also the sister of the late Sylvester Cox, Carlyle Cox and Velma Babcock.
Burial will be in St. Hubert Cemetery in Star Lake.
