Hildegard Strauss, 92, Potsdam. Mrs. Hildegard Strauss, age 92, of Potsdam, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital where she had been a resident since the 23rd. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Potsdam on Tuesday, December 1st at 10 a.m. with Rev. Rich Will celebrant. Burial will follow the service at the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam. She is survived by a daughter Ingrid Karl of Potsdam; grandsons Michael, Brian and Shawn Grant of Potsdam; great-grandchildren Kyle, Kalie, Brianna and Cooper Grant of Potsdam and a brother Otto Tainz of Germany. She is predeceased by her husband Otto Gustav Strauss.

Mrs. Hildegard E. Strauss was born on November 30, 1916 in Spremberg, Germany to August Tainz and Hedwig Buda. She attended schools in Germany. On December 6, 1939 in Berlin, Germany she was married to Otto Gustav Strauss. They came to the United State in 1953.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking.
