Annie K. Stephens, 92, formerly of Oswegatchie. Annie K. Stephens entered into eternal rest on November 4, 2009 at East Side Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, where she had been a patient since January 2009.

Annie was born on December 18, 1916 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to the late Andy and Annie (Stires, Leckey) Knudsen. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1932, moved to Nyack, NY where she worked as an attendant at the State Hospital. She married Nelson J. Stephens, Sr. on February 24, 1940 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Nelson passed away on August 9, 1998.

Annie was a homemaker, former member of the First Baptist Church of Oswegatchie and its Missionary Society as well as the Oswegatchie Cemetery Association and the Home Bureau. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, reading and her family.

Annie is survived by three sons, Nelson J. Jr. (Joan) of Broadalbin, Lon P. (Kathryn) of Marathon, and Mark A. of Oswegatchie, NY; a daughter, Karen L. (Bruce) of Castile; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Craig, Kevin, Gregory, Brett, Seth, Todd, Heather and Whitney; three great grandchildren; a brother-in-law and wife, Leslie and Virginia Stephens; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; and brothers Leroy L. Knudsen, Samuel and Lloyd Leckey.

Calling hours will be from 7 – 9 p.m. on Friday, November 6th at French Funeral Home Edwards and from 1 – 2 p.m. on Saturday. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. John Fetterhoff officiating. Burial will follow at Oswegatchie Cemetery in Oswegatchie.

Donations may be made in Annie's memory to the First Baptist Church of Oswegatchie or Star Lake Rescue Squad.
