Ronald G. “Ronnie” Miller, 80, Massena. Ronald G. “Ronnie” Miller, 629 County Route 42, peacefully passed away on Thursday afternoon, October 29, at Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past five weeks. He had been in failing health for the past few years.
He was born October 15, 1929, in Ellenburg, the son Gordon and Margaret Silver Miller. He attended schools in Ellenburg and Massena. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Ronnie worked for various companies with the Teamster’s Union for over 30 years, retiring after working for St. Lawrence Transit Mix. He also worked construction during the building of the Seaway. He was a member of the Gerald R. Roy Amvets Post #4, Massena. Ronnie was a proud veteran and avid sportsman. He was well known for his abilities in storytelling. His family will greatly miss his many hunting, fishing, trapping, and Army stories. They will sadly miss their hero.
Ronnie is survived by his four children, Gordonna Blodgett and her husband, Mark, Mineville, Kelly Miller and his companion, April Lashua, Waddington, Kimball Miller and his wife, Sheri, Chase Mills, and Rhonda Smith and her husband, Calvin, Lisbon; the mother of his children, Bernadette (Duprey) Miller; several grand and great-grandchildren; a brother, Neal Miller and his wife, Anna, Canton; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Miller, North Bangor; many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Norma Akinson, Massena.
He was predeceased by three sons, Keith R. Miller in April 1964, Kevin H. Miller on May 2, 2001, and Karl K. Miller on September 23, 2003; two brothers, Preston “Prett” and Marvin Miller; and a sister, Rita Elliott.
Friends may call Wednesday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, where memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or the Gerald R. Roy Amvets Post #4.
