Sylvia J. Clinger, 61, Hermon. Funeral services for Sylvia J. Clinger, Northwoods Road, Hermon, will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ogdensburg with Rev. Robert Longbottom and Deacon Arthur Garno co-officiating.

Calling hours will also be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home . Mrs. Clinger passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.

Surviving is her husband William Clinger of Hermon; a daughter Angela Dart and her husband Dan of Warren, PA; two sisters Millie Bullock and her husband Ed, and Kimberly Mart of Heuvelton; a brother Fran Burdick and his wife Donna of Ogdensburg; a grandson Ryan Dart of Warren, PA; a special friend Pat Seguin of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sylvia was born on March 11, 1948, in Ogdensburg, a daughter of Clyde & Lois (Graveline) Burdick. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School and obtained an office technology degree from SUNY Canton. She married William C. Clinger on July 8, 1965 at the United Methodist Church in Ogdensburg.

For many years, she and her husband were the owner and operators of the Approved Fire Prevention Company in Rochester until the early 80s when they relocated to the North Country. She then worked as a homemaker, part-time secretary, caterer for St. Lawrence University and most recently a living assistance aid for residents at Partridge Knoll.

She was a past US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla member and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, crocheting and watching NY Jets Football.
