Marion L. Thomas, 73, Potsdam. Funeral services for Mrs. Marion L. Thomas, age 73, of Potsdam, will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Billings celebrant. Burial will follow the service at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Marion is survived by her husband, David P. Thomas of Potsdam; five sons, Douglas of Lakeview, Oregon, Allen of Ogdensburg, Gregory of Clarksville, TN, Peter of Dumfries, VA and David C. of Potsdam; a daughter, Rebecca Cole of Potsdam; brother George Ladison of Crary Mills; sisters Evelyn Cota of Madrid and Isabelle Cota of Canton; and 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Ladison; and a sister, Loretta Hubbard.

Marion was born on April 24, 1936 in Canton, to Charles Ladison and Mable Martin. She attended Canton schools. On June 26, 1954 in Crary Mills, she was married to David P. Thomas. She worked at Clarkson College of Technology from 1963-68 and also took the census for the area until 1970. She then went to work for Potsdam State Teachers College and remained there until her retirement in August of 1996.
