Vara O. McMillan, 90, of Poinciana Pkwy, Cheektowaga, died Monday, December 12, 2012 at the home of her daughter while under the care of her family and Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8th at 1:00 p.m. at the Williamsville United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 to 7-9 p.m. at the Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home in Williamsville. Burial will take place in Niagara Falls Memorial Park in Lewiston.
Surviving are her two daughters, Irene Wachowiak of Cheektowaga and Lois MacDonald and husband James of Canton; two sisters and three brothers; and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She was born January 10, 1922 in Niagara Falls, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Alice (Space) Decker, she attended Niagara Falls Schools. In 1940 she married Harold McMillan. He died May 1, 1991.
Vara enjoyed bowling, racing Standard Bred Horses with her husband and wintered in Riviera Beach, FL for several years. While living in Lockport she was a member of the Lockport Fire Department Ladies Auxillary. She was also a member of the Williamsville United Methodist Church.
