OGDENSBURG -- Funeral services for Timothy E. Harper Sr., age 72, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening (Nov 16, 2017) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Father Kevin O’Brien officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.
Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Harper passed away on Monday (Nov 13, 2017) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving are his children, Karen Peck & her husband Robert of Ogdensburg, Timothy Harper & his fiancé Shari Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV and Sue Harper of Ogdensburg; a brother Gary Harper of Nyack NY; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive.
Tim was born on February 19, 1945 in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Guy & Florence (Havens) Harper. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued his education at Potsdam State majoring in Art. He later married Elizabeth Halpin on August 22, 1964. The couple’s marriage later ended but they remained friends.
During his career he was employed at Diamond International as a laborer, the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as a therapy aid and Dot & Rays on Black Lake as a bartender. He then moved to Florida where he also worked as a bartender and as a handyman until 2007. He then relocated back to the North Country to be near family.
Tim enjoyed his beloved dog Indy, boat racing, hunting, fishing, painting, drawing, trapping and ice fishing. He was also a little league baseball coach for the Lions Club for many years, and spending time with his family.
