Mr. Thomas G. Gokey, 63, of 220 Highland Road, passed away Thursday evening at the Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been admitted the previous day.
Tom was born July 4, 1949 in Malone, the son of the late Elizabeth Gokey Lancto. He graduated from Franklin Academy. Tom served his country in the US Army, having done two tours in Vietnam. He married Sally Brown in 1973 at the St. Regis Falls Methodist Church, the marriage ended in divorce. After his discharge from the Army, he went to work in the pot rooms at Alcoa, where he continued to work for 36 years until his retirement. He enjoyed doing puzzles and watching television.
Tom is survived by his two children, Thomas Gokey, II, of Lake Placid; and Tim and Nathan Hough of Saranac Lake; his grandchildren, Courtney Martin, Darion Brown, and Austin and Dawson Hough. He is also survived by his brother, Charles and Mary Gokey of Moira; his sister, Bonnie and Jim Anthony of Delphi, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother; his brothers, Francis “Chummy”, David, and Edward “Bucky” Gokey and his sisters, Ruth Sullivan and Hilda Soulia.
Friends may call Monday 4 - 6 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 100 N. Main Street, Massena. There will be no funeral services, cremation will follow.
