Shirley I. Johnston, age 85, of the Saint Regis Nursing Home in Massena and formerly of Malone passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Nursing Facility where she had been a resident since February 3, 2012.
She was born October 30, 1926 in Dickinson, the daughter of the late Vernon and Ethel Lincoln Delosh. She attended Franklin Academy in Malone. She was a member of the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church in Cooks Corners.
On April 3, 1947 she was united in marriage to Herman Johnston at the Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church. He predeceased her on January 26, 2000. Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters in law, Gary and Karen Johnston of Florida, Jay and Laurie Johnston of North Bangor, Danny V. and Beverly Johnston of Malone and Diane and Bradley Childs of Malone; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; and one niece and nephew.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Herman “Stub” Johnston; and a sister, Eula Gravel.
Friends may call at the Cook’s Corners Wesleyan Church on Friday November 23, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Milligan and the Rev. Bentley McQuinn officiating. Burial will be in Stevens Cemetery.
