Sarah E. Simpson, 102, Star Lake

Sarah E. Simpson, of Star Lake, peacefully left us to be with her Lord, Who took loving care of her for 102 years.

Sarah was born on June 9, 1910 in Hounsfield to Wallace R. and Edith M. (Marion) Ramsey. She attended the Sulfur Springs Schoolhouse. She married Hilyard A. Simpson on May 23, 1928 at the Baptist Parsonage in Watertown.

Sarah was a homemaker. She was a member of the Star Lake Episcopal Church, which was a church her husband helped build. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and rug making. She was loved dearly by her family and is remembered for her strength, her caring spirit and her gratitude for all of life’s gifts.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Jean M. and Edward C. Williams of Penfield; and seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Hilyard who passed away on August 3, 1993; a daughter, Eva M. Humphries who passed away in 1996; a son, John H. Simpson who passed away in 2005; a granddaughter, Marsha Beamen; a brother, John Ramsey; and a sister, Hazel Williams.

There will be a funeral service at the Church of the Nativity Episcopal Church in Star Lake on Tuesday, July 10th at 12:00 noon with Deacon Vicar Greg Bailey officiating. There will be a calling hour starting at 11:00 a.m. at the church before the funeral service. Burial will follow at Cranberry Lake Cemetery.
