Ruthie was born in Potsdam on February 21, 1923 to the late Carl and Alice McQuade Sellers. She was a 1942 graduate of Potsdam Central High School. She then went on to receive her nursing degree from Hotel Dieu in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. Ruthie worked as a R.N. at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital for over 25 years.
Ruthie is survived by her five children, Stephen (Maureen) Taylor, Marianne (Peter) Conroy-Stone, Jody (Michael) Loconti, Susan (Robert) Domurat and Thomas (Linda) Taylor; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Bullard; a brother, Carl Sellers; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband, Merton Ford Taylor; her parents, Carl and Alice Sellers; her brother, Albert Sellers; and her sister, Mary Morgan.
Ruthie’s kind heart and good nature made her a favorite to those who met her. Anyone that knew her knew that she loved fully and laughed often. Ruthie enjoyed watching hockey, particularly when her children or grandchildren were playing, and was never afraid to show her excitement on a win or her disdain for a “bad call”. Ruthie will always be remembered for the memories she created and the stories she told.
