
Rosalie M. McEathron, age 82, of Gouverneur, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at E.J. Noble Hospital. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Beth Benham officiating. Burial will follow in the Hailesboro Cemetery.
Rosalie was born on January 29, 1930 in Gouverneur to the late Frank and Flossie (May) Dawley. She attended school in Gouverneur. Marriages to Charles Bayes and Herbert J. McEathron, Sr. ended in divorce.
Rosalie lived in Gouverneur for most of her life. She was a bartender and waitress for the Airport Inn, the American Legion, and the VFW. She had also worked for the Gouverneur Lace Mill.
Mrs. McEathron was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary, the American Legion Auxillary, a member of the Gouverneur United Methodist Church, and former member of the Elks lodge.
Her survivors include two daughters, Julie (David) Fleming of Philadelphia, Linda Bickford of Gouverneur; two sons, Allen (Suzanne) Bayes of Gouverneur, Herbert J. McEathron Jr. of Gouverneur; thirteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also has a great-great grandchild on the way.
She is predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Jean Jenne; her brother, Henry Dawley; and two sisters who died as infants.
