Graveside services for Ronald ”Ron” Haynes, age 78, of New York Ave, will be held in the Spring at White Church Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Haynes passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at his private residence.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Esther; one son, Robert and his wife, Cindy, of Ogdensburg; two daughters, Diane and her husband, Thomas Nothwehr, of Norwood Young America, Minnesota and Robin Silvia of Pleasantville, Tennessee; two sisters, Donna Montana of Wichita Falls, Texas and Beverly Rodgers and her husband, Raymond, of Montaque; and seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ronald was born on March 16, 1936, in Ogdensburg the son of Cecil and Beulah (Ray) Haynes. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy. Ronald married Esther Campbell on July 6, 1955 at St. Mary’s Church in Brushton, with Father J. A. O’Brien officiating.
Ronald started his working career at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood, Long Island and later transferred to St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where he worked for 42 years and retired in 1995. Ronald first worked as a therapy aide and then later as a Pharmacy Aide in the Pharmacy Department. While working at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, Mr. Haynes also worked part time at ACCO International Brands as a security guard and did part-time custodial work at the First Congregational Church in Ogdensburg.
Ronald enjoyed reading, listening to music and at one time performing mechanical work on cars.
