Mr. Robert J. “Bobbie” Compo, 64, of 104 Liberty Ave, passed away Monday afternoon, December 15, 2014 at the Adirondack Medical Center. He had been in failing health and a resident of the Highland Nursing Home since 2008.
Bobbie was born April 3, 1950 in Massena, the son of the late Edward J. and Ruth Weller Compo. He attended schools in Massena. On January 25, 1995, he married Lilliane Vaillancourt at the VFW Hall in Massena with Justice Leon Pennell, officiating.
Bobbie was a dietary aide at the St. Regis Nursing Home, until becoming disabled due to his health. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and also a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council #1141. Bobbie was a former member of the Massena Moose Lodge #1110 and a former member of the Massena Rescue Squad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, taking scenic car rides around the Seaway, playing video games, and also enjoyed drawing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lilliane; two step-daughters, Brenda Wattie of Brasher Falls and Trisha Seymour of Mannsville; three grandsons, Kurt, Ethan and Zachary; a chosen grandson, Matthew; three sisters, Marlene Higginbotham and Candace Otis, both of Brewerton and Jill Silver of Virginia; two brothers, Edward D. and Edith Compo of Virginia and Lloyd L. Compo of Massena; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Gravel on February 2, 2002; a stepson, Craig J. Wattie on January 17, 2004; two brother-in-laws, William Higginbotham and Walter Otis; and a nephew, Walter Otis.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Friday 3-6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Mark Reilly, celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
