Robert Glenford Hazen of Brushton, passed away on Monday May 7, 2012 with his family at his side. He was born December 4, 1924 in Alburg, he was the son of Harold and Dorothy (Drake) Hazen. He was a 1941 graduate of Moira High School.

In 1944 He started Valley-Haze Farms with 125 acres and 2 horses. Over 68 years of dairy farming, along with his wife, children and grandchildren, he saw it grow to over 800 acres and 15 tractors. He received a longevity award from Sen. Betty Little for being on the same farm for over 50 years.
On May 25, 1947, he married Geraldine Edna Bombard from Bangor, NY and they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this month.
In 1956 he went on construction to help the farm, starting at the St. Lawrence Seaway. He recently was given an award from the International Operating Engineers for 55 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of the North Star Lodge #107 of Brushton with 58 years of dedicated service. Robert was also a long time member of the Cornell Cooperative Association, Farm Bureau and the NRA. He was the recipient of an Honorary Empire degree from the NYS EFA. Having lived his entire life in this community, he was well known and loved.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; children, Robert G. and Karen Hazen, Jr. of Brushton, Bruce and Marilyn Hazen of Carthage, Barbara A. Hazen of Massena, Terry and Bonita (Hazen) Fefee of Brushton, Brett and Joanne Hazen of Burke and Brian Hazen and fiancée Andrea of Brushton; grandchildren Robert Scott Hazen, Troy Hazen, Heidi (Hazen) Robinson, Jennifer (Hazen) Girlie, Kevin Hazen, LeeAnn (Fefee) Pray, Jan (fefee) Normile, Terry (Fefee) Chused, Mike Hoye, Dr. Barry Hazen, Megan Gabriel, and Blake; a sister, Helen Barney; a brother, Richard and Joyce Hazen; and sister-in-law Barbara Hazen and Rita Richards.
He was predeceased by a son, Barry M. Hazen; brother Merle W. Hazen; and brother-in-law James E. Barney.
Calling hours will be Friday (May 11, 2012) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Burial will be at Sand Hill Cemetery, directly following with a graveside Masonic service.
