Robert F. “Bob” Normile, 91, North Lawrence

NORTH LAWRENCE -- Mr. Robert F. “Bob” Normile, 91, passed away in the comfort of his home Sunday September 17, 2017 with his family at his side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Bob was born in Potsdam on November 2, 1925 to the late Frank and Ann (Mahony) Normile. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from North Lawrence High School.

He married Joyce V. LaClair at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls on February 4, 1952. Married for 65 blessed years filled with faith, family, laughter, and love; Bob and Joyce were a true example of what marriage is.

For many years Bob owned and operated his own dairy farm, retiring in 1986. He also worked for Chittendens Feed in North Lawrence and Agway-GLF in Winthrop. In past years he enjoyed making maple syrup with his family.

Bob dedicated his time and hard work as the caretaker of St. Lawrence Cemetery in North Lawrence for many years. He was one of the founding members of the North Lawrence Fire Department as well as a member of the Farm Bureau and the Brasher Falls Knights of Columbus.

He loved to tell jokes and stories, sing songs, and had an infectious smile. Those who knew and loved him will remember him for his happy go lucky spirit and his willingness to do anything to make someone laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Michael R. Normile of NY, Kathryn and Terry Gardner of Helena, Richard Normile of North Lawrence, Gregory Normile of Coral Springs, FL, Thomas Normile of Marrietta, GA, Bartholomew Normile of Statham, GA, and Donald and Nikki Normile of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Katie and Larry Donie, Kerri and Frank Gray, Sean Normile, Jessica Normile, Korrey Maddox Reksten, Zachary and Wessley Normile and Noah Normile; two great grandchildren, Michael J. Donie and Bailey Gray; his brother and sister-in-law, John J. “Jack” and Joy Normile of Brasher Falls; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen Burns of Malone, and Marie Therese and Chuck Kelley of Ogdensburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was predeceased by his sister, Joan Hurley; and his great grandson, Jackson Gray.

Visitation will be Tuesday September 19th from 4-7 p.m. Bobs Mass of Christian Burial and Funeral Service will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
