Funeral services for Robert C. Hazelton, 83, of County Route 14, Canton, will be held on Wednesday (May 29, 2013) at 10 a.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, with Lay Pastor Ron Stiles officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Cemetery, Black Lake.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hazelton passed away Friday (May 24, 2013) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving are his children, Jamie Hazelton and his wife Kari of Crary Mills, Robert Hazelton of Moira, Lorrie Bogart and her husband Dennis of Ogdensburg, Debbie Bowman and her companion Dale Thornhill of Heuvelton, Gail Votra of Cambridge, and Vicky Jones and her husband Michael of Cambridge; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley Mae Elliott; his second wife, June Ross; a son, Tobey Hazelton; three brothers, Walter, Glendon and Ivan Hazelton; and two sisters, Ruth Ritchie and June Stiles.
Bob was born on September 28, 1929 in DePeyster, a son of the late Arnold and Pauline (Baker) Hazelton. He attended Heuvelton School and was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1946 to 1950 when he received his honorable discharge.
During his career, he worked as a manager for McCadam Cheese in Heuvelton for 18 years and then transferred employment to Corning Manufacturing where he worked for an additional 22 years earning his retirement in 1993.
Bob was a member of the Heuvelton Pool League and AmVets Post 1997 where he was past commander and trustee. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, playing pull tabs and was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.
