
A Mass of Resurrection for Richard (Dick) F. LaComb, 84, Grant St., Massena, will be held Friday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev Jack Downs and Rev. J. Michael Gaffney concelebrating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Dick passed away on May 29 at his home under the care of family and hospice.
Dick was born October 9, 1927, in Massena the son of Herman and Hattie (Love) LaComb. Dick proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was employed for the Village of Massena as a mechanic. Prior to the village Dick had worked at Fay Motors following his discharge and later at Boyce Motor Sales from 1953 to 1979. While employed there, Dick received several Mechanical Outstanding awards, earning an all-expense-paid trip to Puerto Rico.
He married Velma Flynn in the Church of the Sacred Heart. She predeceased him and he later married Doris Haggett Brown in 1963. Doris predeceased him in 1995.
Dick was a communicant of St. Joseph's - St. Mary's Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Surviving Dick is his daughter, Nancy, and husband Duane Patnode of Greenfield Center. Also surviving Dick are his children by Doris Daggett Brown, Timmy Brown of Norwood, and Vicky Brown, of Potsdam; grandchildren, Brianna, Brant, Jason, Shauna, Crystal, Christopher, and Ricky; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue LaComb of Massena, Mary Kielak of Vas Vegas, NV, Joyce Cantwell of Marion, and Florence Monroe of Norfolk. He was predeceased by sons, Joseph and Ricky; and a brother, Lawrence.
