Retha Sibley, 91, passed away Friday, January 15, 2011 at United Helpers Maplewood Campus, Canton. There are no services and burial will be private in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur with Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Retha was born December 30, 1919 in Fowler, the daughter of Denver and Marion Law Stowell. She attended schools in Fowler and Gouverneur. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed baking. Retha married Russell S. Sibley on September 11, 1936 in Fowler. Russell passed away October 7, 1959.
Retha is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline and Stanley Young Sr. of Gouverneur; two sons, Dick and Sandra Sibley, and Terry Sibley, both of Gouverneur; a brother, Herbert Stowell of Gouverneur; several nieces and nephews; several grandchildren and their spouses Stanley Young Jr. and Laurie, Russell and Robin Young, Tracey and Cheryl Young, Randy and Carol Sibley, Ricky and Sharon Sibley, Jeffrey Sibley, all of Gouverneur, Steven and Kay Sibley of Arizona, Debera (Perrigo) Martin of Syracuse, Tammy (Perrigo) and Robert Gore of Gouverneur, Mark and Sang Mi Perrigo of Taono, VA, Jodi (Perrigo) and Raad Marza of Glen Allen, VA; and several great and great, great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Georgianna "Tootsie" Perrigo and her husband Richard; a sister, Cecil Eiliene Metzler; and a brother, Charles Stowell.
