Raymond T. Mouthorp, Sr., 92, of 1430 Old DeKalb Road passed away peacefully at his home, March 27.
A private funeral service will be held for the family. Visiting hours will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home Monday April 1 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery, DeKalb Junction at a later date.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred; four sons: Raymond Mouthorp Jr., Roderick, Sr. and Cynthia Mouthorp, Rory and Jill Mouthorp all of Canton, Ryan and Jane Mouthorp of Massena; five daughters: Colleen and Roy Brothers, Sr. of Hermon, Beverly and Howard Haskins of Gouverneur, Sandra and Aloysius Locy, Sr., Cheryl and Stanley Hewlett, Sr. both of Canton, and Jo-Lynn and Charles Shaw of Colorado. His family also includes 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren 16 great- great-grandchildren 6 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by two brothers and five sisters.
Raymond was born October 12, 1920 in Canton, the son of John and Ruth Newman Mouthorp. He attended Canton schools and on October 16, 1943 married Mildred Irene McCarty at the Canton Methodist Parsonage with Rev. Dobbie officiating.
Raymond worked for Queensboro Milk Factory, Canton, in the late 1950s; drove school bus for Canton Central School in the 1960s and 1970s all while running the family farm.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wrestling, training horses, practical jokes and especially loved being outdoors cutting wood and gardening.
