Funeral services for Raymond H. Zulauf, age 80, of Lisbon, will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Frary Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Mr. Zulauf passed away on May 23, 2010 at Canton Potsdam Hospital.
Mr. Zulauf is survived by two sons, Raymond L. Zulauf and his wife Barbara of Hopewell Junction, and Donald Zulauf and his wife Michele of Ogdensburg; three daughters, Colleen Bates of Florida, Linda LaRue and her husband Joseph of Canton, and Christen Massia and her husband Mark of Lisbon; one sister, Jean Zulauf of Canton; and thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brother, Donald at infancy.
Mr. Zulauf was born on August 5, 1929 in Yonkers, the son of Raymond and Catherine (Mackey) Zulauf. He graduated Gorton High school in Yonkers. He graduated from Westchester Community College in White Plains in 1952 with a degree in engineering, drafting and design. He married Dorothy Pattison on January 21, 1956 at St. John’s Church in White Plains. She passed away on December 5, 2006. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1946 to 1949. He first worked for Norton Labs where he met his wife and later relocated to Canton in 1976 where they operated a successful dairy farm for 10 years. He later drove buses for Flack Tours, retiring as a special needs driver for Madrid Waddington Schools.
Mr. Zulauf was past director of athletics in the town of Armonk, NY and coached Little League to his sons. Mr. Zulauf enjoyed golfing, bowling and all sports. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sports and academic activities.
Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley and Madrid Waddington Marine Corp League.
