OGDENSBURG -- On Friday, July 14, 2017, Phyllis Mae (Johnson) Young was called home to be with our Lord.
Mrs. Young passed away at home under the care of her loving family and Hospice.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00PM to 6:00PM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Frary Funeral Home, 515 Caroline Street, Ogdensburg.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 20 at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, Ogdensburg, with Rev. Laurena Will officiating.
A Celebration of Life will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
A private interment will be at Foxwood Mausoleum at 4:00PM for family members only.
Mrs. Young is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Lisa of Heuvelton, NY and Anna Marie Munz and her husband, Keith, of Osceola, NY; four granddaughters, Leah, Elizabeth, Kelsey and Annie Munz; a very special niece, Julie Sellers and close friends/caregivers, Nancy LeVac and Barbara Hebert. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Tracy A. Young in 2004; her sister, Donna Sellers and her brother, Allen Johnson.
Mrs. Young was born on November 5, 1935, in Grand Rapids, MN, the daughter of Floyd and Anabel (Allen) Johnson.
She attended several schools and graduated from Riverdale High School in Riverdale, ND, in 1954.
Phyllis married Robert C. Young on November 22, 1955 in California. After Mr. Young’s honorable discharge from the USMC, they moved to Northern New York with Mrs. Young’s family. They first lived on Route 68 near Ogdensburg before moving to Heuvelton where they have resided for over the past fifty years.
Mrs. Young worked briefly at JJ Newberry’s before becoming a stay at home mom to care for her three daughters. Once her youngest started first grade, she went to work in the Heuvelton School Cafeteria, starting as a dishwasher and retiring in 1999 as the cafeteria manager.
Mrs. Young enjoyed spending time with her girls; she always talked about how they were her world. She also enjoyed doing genealogy, crocheting and tending to her flowers.
