Mr. Paul H. “Poopsie” Snell, age 62, of Parishville, passed away suddenly on September 19, 2012 at his residence. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 24th at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Colton, with Msgr. Robert Aucoin, Rev. Douglas Lucia and Deacon James Snell co-celebrants.
Burial will be at a later date at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Online condolences can be sent at www.garnerfh.com. Paul is survived by his wife, Darlene Snell; a son, Gregg Snell; brothers Gerald (Bonnie) Snell and James (Diana) Snell; a sister, Sandra (Gary) Sebastian; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother and sister in law, Gordon and Linda Snell.
Paul H. Snell was born July 5, 1950 in Potsdam, to the late Vincent and Marion Beaudin Snell. He was a 1969 graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton Central School. On August 3, 1974 at St. Michael’s Church in Parishville he was married to Darlene Dafoe. For ten years he worked at Abeloves Laundry. He then worked at Alcoa retiring in 2010 with over 31 years of service.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America, the Alcoa 25 Year Club, the Amvets in Parishville, the Elks Lodge in Potsdam and was a former member of the Parishville Volunteer Fire Department.
Paul loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and he and his wife enjoyed spending the last two winters in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
