Mrs. Patricia J. Palmer, 86, of 32 Church St., Apt. 16, Brasher Falls, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Massena Memorial Hospital, after having been in failing health for the past few weeks.
There will be no public calling hours. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at Church of the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. A luncheon will follow the services at Goose Landing Restaurant in Winthrop.
Patricia was born on March 17, 1924, in Potsdam, daughter of Edwin and Ivah Douglas Kirnan. She attended Potsdam High School.
She married James L. Palmer on November 11, 1940 in Potsdam, NY. James predeceased her on August 13, 2003.
She and James operated state parks in various states for many years; she also served as gate attendant at the Corps of Engineers in several places, including Virginia.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed making wedding and birthday cakes over the years. She also loved gardening, cooking, and traveling through many states, including Texas and Kansas.
Patricia will be missed by her daughter, Carol and Floyd Donnelly, Winthrop; her three sons, Allen J. and Pamela Palmer of Hurst, Texas, James E. and Sharon Palmer of Waddington, and Roger S. and Michelle Palmer of Palmayra; her brother, Frank McCann of Imperial Beach, California; her nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Patricia was predeceased by a son, David Douglas Palmer, on June 17, 1967; two brothers, Earl Kirnan, on September 4, 1992, and Douglas Kirnan on November 18, 1971; and a sister, Muriel Pomerville on April 2, 2005.
Patricia’s family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at LBSH and to her extended family for the love and support given to Patricia over the past few years.
