Born September 20, 1923 to Enrico “Henry” and Verneda (Noce) Fiacco, Norene had just celebrated her 95th birthday.
On April 4, 1941 Norene Fiacco became Norene Ashley when she married Harold “Bill” Ashley. They were married for 55 years when Bill predeceased her in 1996. Norene continued to live in the family home on Cook Street until 2012, when she needed to have more care at the St. Regis Nursing Home.
Norene was the mother to five children and accepted their spouses as her children too; Dianne Shambo, Franklin and Helen Ashley, Karon and John Tomlinson, Ted and Kathie Ashley, and Denise and Darren Furnace. Norene’s children enriched her life with providing her more joy and love with 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Norene was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was always cooking, baking, canning and sewing to provide for her family. You could always find Norene at her children’s and many of her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Inside or out, hot or cold, sunshine, rain or snow Norenen was there.

She was one of the founding members of the Honey Lamb bowling league at the Bowlmor Lanes, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1143 Auxiliary, and lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church. At age 50 she started golfing and was instrumental in getting a Women’s Golf League at Raymondville Golf Course.
