CANTON -- Nicholas Spadaccini, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital where he was in the company of his family.
Nick was born February 25, 1927 in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Antonio and Anna (Autunna) Spadaccini. He graduated from DeKalb schools and Canton ATI. He was drafted to the U.S. Army in 1945 and served Germany, being honorably discharged in 1947. On Oct. 6, 1951, he married Gloria Shoulette at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.
Nick worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years and was both a city and rural carrier.
Nick was a member of the Rock Pond Hunting Club, VFW Post 1231; member and past Grand Knight of Sarto Council 1059, a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and avid Yankees Fan till the departure of Joe Girardi in 2017. He and Gloria had a camp in Hannawa Falls for several years where he enjoyed spending time. Nick was a little league baseball coach, but his favorite pastime, however, was spending time with family and following his children and grandchildren’s sports.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria of Canton; two sons, Ron and Carol Spadaccini of Canton; Randy and Cheryl Spadaccini of Waddington; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a fourth on the way. Also surviving are a brother, James Spadaccini of DeKalb; a sister, Mary Dawson of Rome, N.Y. and nieces and nephews.
Awaiting him in heaven are two brothers, Phillip and Michael Spadaccini.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Canton with Father Bryan Stitt, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
