Funeral services for Mildred W. Gilmour, age 85 of Ogdensburg, will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Nichols officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Eel Weir Road.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Gilmour passed away at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on Thursday morning, May 16, 2013.
Surviving are her children, Mark Gilmour and his wife Kim of Albany; two daughters, Jane Anne Baker and her husband Charles of Jacksonville, NC and Lorrie Canciller of Durham, NC; six grandchildren Emily Gilmour and her husband Michael Artis, Shannon Gilmour, Steven Baker and his wife Kimberly, Sarah Baker, Samuel Baker and Zachary Canciller; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband Rev. Clark E. Gilmour predeceased her on February 25, 2010.
Mildred was born on May 27, 1927 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Earl and Grace (Livingston) Wright. She was graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1944 and later from the Strong Memorial School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse with St. Lawrence County before her marriage to Clark E. Gilmour on September 28, 1950. In 1952 the couple relocated to Houghton, NY where Clark began his studies for ministry at Houghton College. Clark continued to Pastor for 29 years with the United Methodist Churches and the couple returned to the Ogdensburg area in 1987.
Mildred was a member of the Galilee United Methodist Church.
