Irene M. Haggett, 90, of San Jose, California, passed away December 11, 2012 at her home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 25 at noon at Riverside Cemetery in Norwood, where her ashes will be laid to rest in the Haggett family plot. The Reverend Leon Sweeney will preside.
Irene M. Haggett is survived by two brothers, Charles of Auburn, California and Reginald of Paso Robles, California; and one sister, Kathryn Eggleston of St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews , great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Irene was born in Louisville March 5, 1922 to Charles R. and Hattie Hosmer Haggett, the sixth of eight children. She attended the local country school and Waddington High School. After working as a young woman cleaning houses, Irene enrolled in business school, later working at ALCOA. In the 1950s, Irene moved to California with her widowed mother to be closer to her two youngest brothers who had begun careers in the aerospace industry. Irene soon joined them and spent a more than 20 year career at Lockheed.
Irene enjoyed gardening, church activities, family reunions, her many friends and travel in her later years.
