Funeral services for Mary Silver, age 91, of River Ledge Health Care and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Jay Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Mrs. Silver passed away Friday afternoon at the River Ledge Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Silver is survived by her three grandsons, Jason Trumble and his wife, Christine of Ithaca, Jeremy Trumble and his wife, Susan of Rochester and Jon Trumble and his wife Jill, of Georgia; her great-grandchildren, Lauren, Sydney, Maggie, Hannah, and Nathan Trumble and her sister, Shirley Foster. She is predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Michael Trumble; her sister, Elizabeth Lavigne and her two brothers, Donald and Gerald Brown.
Mrs. Silver was born on September 15, 1921 in Lisbon, NY, the daughter of Edgar and Mary Dowd Brown. She graduated from Lisbon High School and Hepburn School of Nursing. She worked as a U.S. Navy nurse during WWII (Lieutenant LG). She retired from Claxton Hepburn Hospital as a nurse. She married Lawrence Legault on June 24, 1946 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. P. O. Legault officiating. Mr. Legault passed away July 1969. Mary later married R. Manley Silver on April 15, 1977 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Msgr. John Pendergast officiating. Manley predeceased her in February 1992.
Mary was known for her loving smile and for being a wonderful grandmother.
