
On July 27, 2012, Mary Ruth St. Andrews passed away at Provena Saint Joseph Center.
Mary was born March 4, 1924, in New York, New York, the daughter of Dr. James F. and Ruth A. (Kelly) Van Fleet. On September 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to Leo F. St. Andrews in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Ogdensburg, New York.
While living in Ogdensburg, Mary was active as President of the Garden Club, and the many activities of St. Mary Cathedral. Mary enjoyed bridge, golf, and volunteering at A.B. Hepburn Hospital.
Living in Freeport for 36 years, Mary was the past treasurer of The Amity Society, served in the well baby clinic, member of the Welcome Wagon, member of the Freeport Country Club and the Park Hills Golf Course. Mary was a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Mary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her three sons, Timothy (Mary) St. Andrews of Freeport, James (Cathie) St. Andrews of State College, Pa., and Thomas (Joy) St. Andrews of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her daughter, Mary Patricia Bordenave of Scottsdale, Arizona; her four granddaughters, Carrie St. Andrews, Kelly (Mike) Sorn, Kimberly (Derek) Koehn and Michelle (Ryan) Balsiger; seven grandsons, Bryan, Jeffrey, Patrick, Matthew, Michael, Mitchell and Marc St. Andrews; three great-granddaughters, Brittany Sorn, Taylor and Lauren Koehn; a great–grandson, Tyler Balsiger; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Michael and Peter; her daughter-in law. Mary St. Andrews; and her sister, Jean Mills.
Funeral mass for Mrs. St Andrews will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Freeport. Rev. Art Mallari will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Saint Thomas. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Freeport. A memorial has been established for Provena Saint Joseph Center.
