Funeral services for 86-year old Mrs. Marjorie Elizabeth Wright of Potsdam will be held Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam with Pastor Charles Colton, nephew of Mrs. Wright, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam. Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Tuesday, June 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 5805 U. S. Highway 11, Potsdam, NY 13676, or the Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Ave., Potsdam, NY 13676. Mrs. Wright died May 27th, 2010 at the Maplewood United Helpers facility in Canton.

She is survived by four daughters Mrs. (Lewis) Carol Hanna-Smith of Rensselaer Falls, Mrs. (Larry) Patricia Cobane-Ramsay, Mrs. Penny Dowdle, and Mrs. Karen Andrews all of Potsdam, and three step-sons Frederick Wright Jr. of Colton, Lee Wright of Massena, and Michael Wright of Sodus, NY. There are also 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews surviving. She was predeceased by a sister Mrs. (Lester) Martha Snyder and a brother Wilbur Thompson.

Marjorie was born in the Town of Fowler on July 6, 1923 the daughter of Leon S. and Lillian E. (Streeter) Thompson. She graduated from Potsdam High School and attended a year at St. Lawrence University. On Sept. 20, 1942 she married Frederick E. Wright. The marriage ended in divorce. Marjorie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Canton, and enjoyed gardening, watching birds, and playing cards and spending time with her family. She was formerly employed as a clerk in the Britts’ Dept. Store in Canton.

Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
