Lucille W. Pratt, 78, Richville

Lucille W. Pratt, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in Gouverneur where she was under the care of her family and Pansy Cole.

Lucille was born October 6, 1931 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Floyd and Pauline Brown Hosmer.

She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1949 and then from the Watertown School of Commerce.

Lucille was raised and adopted by Earl and Myrtle Walker of Richville as her mother passed away giving birth to her. Lucille and her husband Robert eventually purchased the Walker Farm on the Bigelow Road which they operated until his retirement in 1993. Lucille also worked as postal relief for the Richville Post Office for twenty years and served many years as an election worker.

Lucille married Robert Pratt on May 24, 1952 at her parents’ home in Richville. Mr. Pratt passed away November 11, 2009.

She was a member of the United Church of Richville where she served as treasurer for 28 years, the Richville Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed bowling for many years. Lucille also enjoyed flowers, reading, volunteering at the Richville Free Library, spending time with her family, and taking bus trips with the ladies.

Lucille is survived by four sons, Larry and Ruth Pratt of Richville, Jay Pratt and Brenda Figueroa of Virginia, Timothy and Linda Pratt of Jacksonville, FL, and Kent and Margaret Pratt of Canton; two daughters, Marlene and David Hart of Richville, and Janice Allnatt and Charles Hale of Rochester; 18 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; a brother, William Hosmer of Madrid; a sister, Barbara Scott of Gouverneur; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, a brother, Floyd Hosmer; two sisters, Virginia Chilton and Olive Ann Hopper; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Pratt; and a granddaughter, Sarah Pratt.

A funeral will be held at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with David Hart, her son-in-law and pastor of the Presbyterian Stone Church and the First Congregational Church, Ogdensburg, officiating and burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Richville. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at the United Church of Richville. Calling hours will be today, Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
