Celebration of Life for Lodine F. Stiles, 74, of Madrid will be held Saturday August 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Madrid with Rev. Helen Beck presiding. Friends and family may be received on Friday August 27, 2010 from 3-8 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid, 20 Church St. Interment will be in Madrid Cemetery, Madrid.
Lodine passed away on August 23, 2010 at her home under the loving care of her family and hospice.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; a son and daughter in-law, Gary R. and Susan of Massena; two daughters, Susan S. and husband Raymond Wagner of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Lisa J. Smith and fiancé Clint Whiteford of Potsdam; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; four sisters, Margaret Moulton of Canton, Mayfred McClelland of Verplank, Mildred McDowell of Madrid, and Ruth Koch of Emporia, VA; and a brother, Floyd Sherman of Potsdam.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Marvin, Morton, and Morris.
Born October 26, 1935 in Madrid, she was the daughter of William R. and Eva (Boileau) Sherman. She married Raymond A. Stiles on June 21, 1958 at United Methodist Church in Madrid. She was an executive secretary of Madrid Waddington Central School for over 40 years. She was the secretary/treasurer for Madrid Cemetery Association since 1973.
She was a Charter member and twice president of St. Lawrence County Educational Secretarial Group. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years, and active in church work for many years. She was treasurer for the Antique Car Club for many years.
She enjoyed her children and their families as well as housework, yard work, old cars and reading her bible.
