Funeral services for Lodene O. O’Brian, 82, Lisbon, will be held 11 a.m. Monday (Sept. 23) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, with Rev. Walter Smith and Rev. Michael Boehm co-officiating. Burial will follow the service at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.
Calling hours will be held Sunday (Sept. 22) from 3 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. O’Brian passed away Thursday (Sept. 19, 2013) at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are two sons, David and Elaine O’Brian, and Christopher and Rebecca O’Brian, all of Lisbon; four daughters, Nancy and Don Merkley of Lisbon, Cherie and Dean Rogers of Hammond, and Rebecca and Tim Dishaw and Suzanne O’Brian and her companion John Lacombe all of Lisbon; grandchildren Mackenzie and Chris Palmer, Brian and Michelle O’Brian, Stephanie and Scott Wilhelm, Stacie and Mark Bennett, Heather and John Tamburello, Sara and Ryan Polniak, Adam Merkley, Ryan Merkley, Ben and Lucy Merkley and Bradley Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore “Teddy” O’Brian, and four sisters, Una Stuhldreher, Helen Flack-Purser, Mary Puccia and Evelyn Lang.
Lodene was born on December 5, 1930 in Lisbon, daughter of the late Homer and Blanche (Hargrave) Speer. She graduated from Lisbon High School and married Theodore W. O’Brian on Oct 11, 1950.
Lodene assisted her husband with the operations of the family farm and provided home healthcare for area families for many years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, pickling, gardening, playing cards, reading and especially spending time with her family.
