Linda L. Desnoyers, 71, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Burlington, Vermont at the Fletcher Allen MedicalCenter. Funeral Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Linda was born February 4, 1942, the daughter of Gerald & Leota (Rockhill) Gervais. She graduated in 1959 from Moira High School, and was united into marriage with Timothy Desnoyers on Jan 21, 1967, at St. Mary’s Church in Brushton. For many years she owned and operated ShirTales in Moira, and for the last few years, Linda was the owner of the Nu2U store also located in Moira.
Linda loved the community where she lived and was never hesitant to sit in on an organization, or put forth time to make Moira a better place to live. At one time she was a member of both the Moira Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. In 1995 she was inducted into the Biddy Ball Hall of Fame for all of her contributions. As one of the founding members of the Town of Moira Historical Association, she was always the first to help with the town's annual Heritage Day Festival. One day Linda was walking with her dear friend Janet Dana; they both looked up at the old Moira Town Hall and agreed that it would make a great museum. Consequently, in the spring of 2000, the Historical Association opened their museum.
Linda is survived by her husband, Timothy; her five sons, Jody (Charet) Desnoyers of Miami, FL, Jamie Desnoyers of Brushton, Timothy II Desnoyers of Fairview, OH, Randy (Shannon) Hastings of Hollywood, FL, and Chris Hastings of Malone; five sisters, Connie (Robert) Cosgrove of Alburg, VT, Cheryl Garrand, Bonnie LaValley both of Moira, Trudy Gervais of Plattsburg, and Carla (Stephen) Yando of Lancaster, PA; and eleven grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and in-laws, Thomas and Lorraine Desnoyers she was predeceased by an infant son, Garry Lynn; and two infant sisters, JoAnn and Evelyn.
Family and friends are invited to call upon the family Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Linda’s Funeral Mass celebrating her Life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Brushton, with the Fr. Christopher J. Looby presiding. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of Floral offerings, please consider memorial contributions in Linda’s honor to the Moira Historical Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Moira Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept.
