Lillian Mary French, 96, Ft. Covington

Lillian Mary French, 96, passed away Tuesday (January 1, 2013) at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

Lillian was born in November 16, 1916, in Canada, the daughter of the late Alfred & Anna (Martin) Hart. After attending school, she married Hayes Edgar French on June 29, 1935 at St. Joseph’s Church, Bombay.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Jean French of Ft. Covington, two grandsons Tonny (Laura) French of Ft. Covington, and Marc and his fiancé Lacie of Westville; a granddaughter, Audra Ann (Arnold) Connors of Pennsylvania; four great grandsons, three great granddaughters and one great great grandson; and many nieces nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by a great grandson, Morgan Willard; great great grandson Hunter French; four brothers, Herman, Donat, Howard, and Ansel; and three sisters, June, Beulah and Marceline.

Lillian was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Fort Parish, Ft. Covington, once was a member of St. Mary’s Alter Rosary Society. She began her employment with the Shields Slipper Factory in Bombay, and later Trustitch Footwear retiring with forty-eight years of service due to failing health.

Lillian enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing her own cloths, quilting and canning. However, on occasion you could locate her with a favorite book in hand or relaxing putting a jigsaw puzzle together.

Calling hours will be held Friday (January 4, 2012) from 11 a.m. in Ft. Covington, at St. Mary’s of the Fort Parish until the time of her funeral. Lillian’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon at the church, with the Fr. Martin Cline presiding. Interment will be held in the spring in the parish cemetery.
